Washington DC’s monuments and memorials on the National Mall are spectacular in the evening, and even more so during a full moon. With the August full moon falling on a Thursday come join us for a pleasant evening walk with friendly people from the non-profit community organization Washington, DC History & Culture: bringing people together to experience the history and culture of Washington, DC.
Our walk will start and end at the National World War II Memorial and cover approximately 2 miles past Washington DC’s most famous monuments and memorials. Please note, this a walk and not a guided tour – although some brief information on the sites we’re visiting may be provided.

Meet New People: We’ll have a good-sized group, usually 100+ people, and it’s hard to remember people’s names. Therefore, as a fun ice-breaker we’ll bring blank name tags and markers and each person can write their name and their “dream” vacation (past or present) – example: “Michele – Hawaii” & “Robert – Japan.” During our walk we can then discuss our past and future travels! : )
Meeting Time/Name Tags/Socializing = 6:45-7:00 pm
Departure = 7:00 pm
Sunset = 8:32 pm
Moonrise = TBD
Ending Time = 9:30 pm (approximate)

Upon arrival you don’t need to bring or show your registration. Unfortunately, due to National Park Service regulations, non-service animals are not allowed within the monuments and memorials, but well-behaved pets ok in the other areas on our walk.

Ending Point: The National World War II Memorial. However, from there many from our group will walk back to the Smithsonian Metro for those interested. Also, people are free to leave whenever they like if they don’t want to finish the entire walk with us.
